Scholarship to Study Abroad - FULL YEAR

The Foundation supports undergraduate Silver or Gold Award Girl Scouts who plan to study abroad, irrespective of major/minor.  It is not necessary to be a Scholarship to Study a Foreign Language recipient to apply for this one time Scholarship to Study Abroad, nor are Scholarship to Study a Foreign Language recipients excluded from applying.  The Scholarship provides $1,000 directly to the awardee upon verification that they have begun their study abroad experience. The Scholarship to Study Abroad IS NOT renewable.  Applications may be submitted for studying abroad during first semester, second semester, summer, or the full academic year. (NOTE: Awards are for undergraduate study ONLY)

Guidelines

Place application materials IN the ORDER below.

Application and all support materials should be shipped in ONE package.

1. Complete the application.

2.  Provide a letter of recommendation from a Girl Scout volunteer or staff member who is not a relative.  The letter of recommendation MUST be written within the past six months, specifically for this scholarship.  Only ONE letter will be accepted.

3. Write an essay (see questions and guidelines on application form).

4. Show proof verifying receipt of the Girl Scout Silver or Gold Award. (See FAQ for further guidance).

5. Provide a transcript showing the applicant is a full-time student, in good standing, progressing toward a degree, and with at least an overall grade point of “B” (3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or 4.0 on a 5.0 scale).

6.  Send proof that you have been accepted to an accredited “study abroad” program.
