The Blue Angels
Dedicated to the Eight Daisy Girl Scouts
of Sandy Hook Elementary
As they entered into heaven,
It was a most unusual sight,
Eight of God’s littlest angels,
All wearing blue, not the standard white.
Others murmured as they arrived,
“What gives them the merit
To change the traditional color,
The heavenly hosts won’t bear it.”
The tiny eight blue angels
Resounded as a chorus:
“We are part of another group
Who’ve already gone before us . . .
Have you noticed other colorful angels,
Dressed in green, not blue,
We’ve come to join our sisters,
The many here among you.
You see, we never had the chance
To wear the Girl Scout green,
Our lives ended quite abruptly,
Something entirely unforeseen.
But we were definitely true Girl Scouts,
In all we would say and do,
We followed the Girl Scout Law,
And we kept the Promise, too.
So if our wearing these blue robes
Makes heaven a little crazy,
Remember, there is nothing more divine,
Than an angelic Girl Scout Daisy.”
